These are my friends
Pastor Frazer Kane, Daniel, wife Gaudencia, with his nephew and niece
Pastor Kane has been my pastor ever since I came to Zambia in 2003. He started Liberty Baptist Church September of that year, the same month I came. Since that time the church has grown to about 110 people. He has allowed me to teach the Sunday School class of children which averages 35 each Sunday. These children come an hour early, before the church service starts to be in Sunday School class.
Clara is the lady who lives with me now. She is my everything when it comes to being able to exist in the culture here. She teaches me the language, interprets for me when I need it, and basically helps me make it in the Zambian culture. We have suffered with each other in getting to know one another. But she is my very good friend, and I do not know how I would live without her. What most people do not know about Clara is that she is one of the best Chess players in Zambia! She has won many tournaments, and has even been in line to represent Zambia in international competition. A fun thing for me to do is set her up to play visiting Americans (especially the men) who think they are so good at playing Chess. Clara destroys their pride, which of course allows God to give them grace. She has also humbled several of the missionaries here too. Clara has taught me to cook Zambian style. She is very good at making Zambian bologna and the staple food here, Nshima. Oh, and she beat my dad in chess when he was here. She said he was good, but she still stomped him.
Morgan Likando
This is Morgan Likando. Morgan helps me in my garden, and is very good at keeping the yard looking great. He is also my snake-killer (see December Newsletter). He is 28 years old. He was saved shortly after the church started in 2003. He was baptized a few months later. His growth in the Lord, under the leadership of Pastor Kane, is tremendous. He was a really good soccer player in Division 1 soccer in Zambia (the highest division), but has given that up since the games are mostly played on Sunday. He has a wife and a 3 year old son named Mike. I only know to call his wife Bana Mike, which means "mother (bana) of Mike (Mike)."
Buckley

This is me with Buckley, our little chick that eventually died. The mother refused to take care of it and pecked it almost to death. I rescued it and brought it into live with us. We nursed it for 3 days before he passed away. I have six chickens and six chicks with a few more on the way. We raise the chickens mostly for the eggs.
