It is amazing anyone survived the head-on with the semi. The driver fell asleep, ran a stop sign going 60 MPH, hit the car that was going 45 MPH, and pushed it back off the highway 30 yards. Mom had major operations, Dad had head injuries, a broken shoulder, and Bethany had a cut spleen. Jeremy was so crushed that he died instantly. Jeremy was driving just after he got his permit. Dad was in the passenger seat.
As you can see, not much was left of the car to salvage. My brother Jeremy was 15, but my Mom led him to Christ when he was five. So, she was a good witness to the EMT's that got in to the car to help them. Six people came to Christ for forgiveness of their sin after the accident. We were thankful that Jeremy had such a good testimony for Christ in our community.
Jeremy Benjamin Townsend, born March 30, 1986. Went to heaven September 11, 2001. He died that others might live in Christ.
